Hidden gem was love at first sight
New Homes Spec Homes January 2014
Judith Reeves knew almost as soon as she saw it that this spec home in Dianella needed an owner “I knew,” she said, and she has not looked back since she bought the Aquila Homes design.
From the street, the home is a hidden gem. Little of it is obvious but, once inside, its character is on full show. The entry is wide with a Mediterranean window, which Ms Reeves loves. The main suite is near the front of the home and has a bedroom with triple cornice, big walk-in robe and high windows. The ensuite features twin square basins.
The theatre room has been designed to be adaptable and Ms Reeves uses it as her home office. The main living space is much loved. The tiles are a new type of porcelain from Italy and are easy to maintain as well as being attractive. Shadowline cornices feature in this area, which is built round the small courtyard which can be reached through sliding doors. Ms Reeves says the spacious living area is “lovely” and the courtyard is excellent in both summer and winter.
Frangipanis, gardenias and other flowers set off the outdoor area which has been designed to be part of the home, almost an extension. The kitchen has white doors and drawers and a feature ceiling. Smeg appliances have been installed and there are eye-catching blinds on the windows.
Off a rear hallway, the rest of the home is separate, which suits Ms Reeves. When she has visitors, they have their own space with the two bedrooms, bathroom and toilet. The bathroom is tiled in white and the bath is built in white tiles.
All the doors in the home have four grooves from top to bottom, an attractive finish. Ms Reeves said: “I got so much for my money. And the location is close to the airport and shops. I am very happy.
